Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project. The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road.

The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time. This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded Assistant QS, who enjoys working with detail, collaborating with project teams and supply chain partners, and contributing to cost, value and commercial information across the project lifecycle.

• Gather data & carry out research on current construction costs
• Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures

• Seek out, locate and assemble pre and post contract documentation, complimented with the necessary administration skills.

• Be responsible for weekly and monthly works programmes
• Awareness of different programme formats

• Use the company’s ERP System
• Collation of Cost and Value Information
• Preparation of Cost reconciliation statements

• Collect information required to specify procurement requirements
• Record and document information including registration of interest
• Understand the steps / documentation required

• Collation of cost and value information
• Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors

• Maintain a Personal Development Plan
• Working towards professional membership from the RICS, ICES or CIOB
• Helps support development of others

• BSc in Quantity Surveying or
• MSc in Quantity Surveying
