Senior Site Engineer - Civil Projects

• Provide comprehensive on-site supervision and technical guidance to project teams, including foremen, tradespeople, and subcontractors.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring all milestones are met and coordinating resources effectively.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting safety briefings and risk assessments as necessary.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction plans, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Manage and control project costs, including material procurement, labor, and equipment, working closely with the project manager to stay within budget.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to provide project updates and resolve any on-site queries or concerns.
• Maintain accurate and detailed project documentation, including daily reports, progress logs, and incident reports.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges that arise during the construction phase.

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in site engineering and project management within the construction industry, with a strong focus on civil infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in managing complex construction projects from inception to completion.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant South African building codes and regulations.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD software.
• Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols on construction sites.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) is highly advantageous.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
