Position: Managing Editor, Sports Travel

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Managing Editor who is enthusiastic for sports to join our Sports Travel team. In this role, you will lead the editorial direction, content strategy, and day‑to‑day multi‑platform content operations for Northstar’s Sports Division. You’ll also manage a small editorial team, produce original reporting, and serve as a visible representative of the Sports Travel brands across events, media channels, and the sports‑events industry.

This is a remote position and is open to candidates based in the United States. We also have an office in Rutherford, New Jersey and New York City for those who favor being in an office a few days a week.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain close collaboration with sales, marketing, custom content, production, and event teams to support divisional goals
  • Original Reporting & Editorial Voice
  • Event Content & On‑Site Presence
  • Digital Platform Management
  • Serve as the primary editorial owner of , ensuring content accuracy, usability, and up‑to‑date site functionality in coordination with the development team
  • Oversee production of the weekly Sports Travel e‑newsletter
  • Manage the placement of custom and advertorial content on the Sports Travel website, e‑newsletter and social channels
  • Represent Sports Travel at industry events, press conferences, and site visits
  • Host Sports Travel podcasts, webinars, and digital programs
  • Support Sports Division initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
Must‑Haves:
The Essentials for Success
  • 5–7 years reporting and editing experience on a website, magazine or travel publication
  • 3–5 years experience managing employees
  • Capability of reporting with absolute accuracy and writing compelling articles coherently on deadlines
  • Experience managing and supervising other employees
  • Strong researching, interviewing, writing, editing and networking skills
  • Strong interest in and/or familiarity with sports at all levels, including esports
  • Willingness to moderate panels and speak at live events
  • Proficiency with social media channels including Linked In, Facebook, Instagram and X
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Word Press skills
  • Proficiency in InCopy and Photoshop
  • Availability to travel to Sports Division or other industry events as assigned

The annual base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $100,000 and is commensurate with experience.
