Editorial Assistant

Summary

This position supports the editorial team at rAVe [PUBS], the industry’s leading source for audiovisual news, analysis and commentary. In this role, you will help manage the daily flow of content for  and related platforms. Responsibilities include reviewing and posting press releases, proofreading and editing copy, assisting with podcasts and video casts, researching stories and supporting overall content production and distribution.

This is a hands‑on editorial support role — ideal for someone with strong organizational and writing skills who is looking for flexible part‑time work. We’re seeking a reliable team player who can balance detail‑oriented editing with fast‑paced newsroom deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Prior experience in writing, editing, or publishing
• Ability to meet deadlines and follow editorial direction
• Familiarity with AP Style or willingness to learn quickly
• Availability to work a consistent schedule during regular business hours

• Strong proofreading and copyediting skills with attention to detail
• Competence in AP Style, grammar and spelling
• Ability to research and fact‑check editorial content
• Familiarity with publishing platforms such as Word Press preferred
• Comfort learning technical topics related to the AV industry
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple assignments

• Edit and proofread editorial content for clarity, accuracy and style
• Post daily news stories and press releases to  (Word Press‑based CMS)
• Write original news stories and other content as assigned
• Conduct research to support editorial projects
• Assist with podcast/videocast preparation and other production tasks

• Employees must be able to spend 8+ hours per day operating a computer to complete work.
• Travel:
  Occasional opportunities may be presented to travel to trade shows and events.

Work will be performed in person at our office in Chapel Hill, NC, with a remote work option two days a week. The employee must reside in North Carolina. You are expected to work at least 15‑20 hours a week on the agreed‑upon schedule.
