Description

Please note:
We are unable to hire in California and New York at this time.

Theo is a fast-growing performance media agency headquartered in Portland, Oregon. We help local and national brands across a wide range of industries advance their marketing practices through methodical, creative, and technology-driven marketing activations.

As a Senior Creative Lead, you’ll operate as both a strategic thinker and hands‑on maker. You’ll concept, create and oversee the production of digital assets for a great collection of recognizable brands operating across Paid Social, Display, Video, and Print channels.

This is an autonomous, end‑to‑end role. You’ll partner closely with performance marketing, analytics and account teams — owning the creative workflow while pushing quality, clarity, and outcomes higher with every iteration.

Key Responsibilities

This role blends creative strategy, hands‑on execution, creative leadership, and curation
. The Senior Creative Lead is expected to think at a high level, execute with craft, and guide work from concept through delivery.

  • Act as both strategist and maker. Develop performance‑driven creative strategies and concepts rooted in audience insight, platform behavior and campaign objectives. Ability to then bring those ideas to life through copy and design.
  • Design and write with range. Produce strong visual systems and clear, compelling copy, translating strategy into cohesive messaging, headlines, hooks and calls to action across static and motion formats.
  • Own the creative workflow end to end. Lead projects from briefing through delivery, managing timelines, feedback, revisions and QA. Collaborate with internal teams, freelancers and external partners as needed and support creative resourcing to ensure projects stay on track.
  • Curate and elevate creative output. Apply a sharp creative point of view, offer thoughtful feedback and push ideas beyond the first or safest solution. Partner with internal teams to refine work and raise the overall creative bar.
  • Guide execution across channels. Ensure creative is designed for performance, adapting concepts across paid and organic placements while maintaining consistency, quality and intent.
  • Stay informed and adaptive. Keep a pulse on platform shifts, emerging formats and evolving audience behaviors to continuously improve creative effectiveness.
Extra Credit (nice to have but not a requirement)
  • Production Experience. Comfortable stepping into a directing role when needed. Experience guiding video or photo shoots — shaping the creative vision, storyboarding, directing talent and collaborating with production partners to ensure footage and assets align with the intended concept and performance goals.
  • Motion & Animation Capabilities. Ability to design and produce motion‑based creative, including animated ads, transitions and short‑form video. Experience using motion to enhance storytelling, improve clarity and drive engagement across social and digital platforms.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • 5–6 years of experience concepting, creating and producing paid assets, preferably performance‑driven social
  • Possess expert‑level knowledge of design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma etc.) and other design tools.
  • Have an understanding of the production side of design, with a history designing across both digital and print and adjusting designs to fit the unique constraints each ecosystem contains.
  • Clear, effective communicator. Able to present creative work with confidence, explain strategic and design decisions, manage client expectations and keep projects moving with clear timelines and direction.
  • Strong design judgment. Demonstrates a refined eye for layout, composition, typography and motion, and applies that judgment to create high‑impact static and animated creative across digital channels.
  • Asset production and delegation experience. Experienced in managing creative output at scale — assigning work to freelancers or team members, providing clear direction and feedback and ensuring all assets meet quality, performance and delivery standards.
  • Strong Design Sensibility. A sharp eye for layout, composition and movement — with the ability to translate that into high‑impact static and motion creative across digital campaigns.
