Graduate Visual UI Designer at Canonical
Join the team that turned Ubuntu into the first Linux for human beings. The design team is on a mission to turn complex, open‑source software into intuitive products. We are looking for an exceptional Visual UI Designer to bring the Ubuntu and Canonical brands to life across events, offices, digital and social assets.
About the roleThe role sits in the design team, reporting to the Design Manager – Brand & Marketing. You will collaborate with visual designers, UX designers, front‑end and back‑end engineers to create visually compelling and usable designs that enhance the user experience of our products. The work is cross‑disciplinary and requires a fluency in current design thinking, technology and innovation.
Responsibilities- Deliver exceptionally crafted and creative visual work that supports business design needs.
- Apply typography, colour, layout, usability, accessibility and web standards to real content and information.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers and researchers to bring exciting web projects to life.
- Excellent academic results at school and university.
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Art / Design.
- Exceptional visual design talent with experience in branding, visual identities and brand experiences.
- Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement – curious, flexible, scientific.
- Engagement with the latest design research and innovation.
- Proficiency with tools such as InDesign, Illustrator, Figma or Penpot.
- Agency, company or freelance design experience preferred.
- Fully remote working environment.
