This role involves creating approximately 40–45 realistic illustrations for a children’s book aimed at readers aged 8–12, focusing on swimming and diving board tricks. The book combines engaging storytelling with instructional content, requiring artwork that accurately depicts human anatomy and dynamic action scenes. Illustrations will showcase divers, often in mid‑air above diving boards, from multiple perspectives (front, side, back). A sample assignment will involve illustrating ‘Ana,’ an 11‑year‑old Latinx girl, in a vibrant and realistic style.

The project is remote, with a final deadline of March 30, 2026, and publication planned for spring 2026. The book is being developed by a first‑time author and retired psychologist with extensive diving experience.

• Produce 40–45 high‑quality, realistic illustrations depicting children performing swimming and diving board tricks.
• Accurately render human anatomy and movement, avoiding cartoonish or exaggerated features.
• Create dynamic action scenes from various perspectives (front, side, back).
• Complete a sample illustration of a specific character (‘Ana’) as part of the selection process.
• Collaborate remotely with the author to ensure illustrations align with the book’s instructional and narrative goals.
• Meet all project milestones and deliver final artwork by March 30, 2026.

• Proven experience in realistic illustration, preferably for children’s books or instructional materials.
• Strong ability to depict human figures in motion with anatomical accuracy.
• Portfolio demonstrating dynamic action scenes and diverse perspectives.
• Ability to work in a vibrant, realistic style suitable for ages 8–12.
• No use of AI‑generated artwork; all illustrations must be original and hand‑drawn or digitally painted by the artist.
• Excellent communication skills and responsiveness in a remote work environment.
• Previous experience with swimming or diving is a plus but not required.
• Availability to commit to the project timeline and deliver all illustrations by the specified deadline.
