PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Job Description Overview
Based in London - This is both a highly creative and technical role supporting Réalisation's Design Director and Head of Product. As the department's leading Product Developer you will be responsible for the development of all silk and other selected category products. This requires a high level of design and construction knowledge, as well as attention to detail, ensuring all products reflect the aesthetic of the brand and quality of finish.
Key Responsibilities Product Development- You are responsible for developing high level products - both in aesthetic and quality, every step of the way from the initial concept stage briefed by the Design Director; through sampling, until the PP sample is perfected and handed over to the Production Manager for production. You will act as the liaison between the Designers (Both London and Los Angeles team) factories and freelancers on all sampling.
Including updating and maintaining required design and work tracking documents at all times, to ensure smooth communication throughout the design and development phases. You will create technical sketches/CADs and tech packs for all garment to support sample development. You will support the design team with on-going design research and work collaboratively to create and present creative mood boards of product research as/when requested.
You will support Head of Product/Senior Designer to execute product concept briefs from the co-founders/Design & Creative Directors and bring them to life. You will assist in ranging planning products into monthly drops. You will manage all critical path dates and project timelines to ensure deadlines are achieved from concept to production handover. You will assist the Design Director and Head of Product to put together the design range plans for special collaboration capsule collections;
including preparing all visual documentation/decks for approval by the collaborating parties. You will research and source sample references, fabrics and trims as directed. You will be responsible for leading fittings to present and fit all new samples to the Design Director. You will evaluate all samples technically and creatively. You will create new style product sheets for the internal creative and sales teams, with information for new product launches;
including style name, print name and fit and description notes. You will ensure that all Design information and feedback is presented and received to and from the LA /Creative Team effectively. You will manage, along with the Senior Designer, the workload of the Design and Development Coordinator to ensure they are supporting the team in the best way possible.
- You will implement new processes to create more effective workflow and communication across teams and departments; including but not limited to, style sheets and handover documents, project and task management programs, creating and managing critical path. You will help to manage freelancers priority work lists, deliverables and workflow; and provide guidance for other team members in the product department. You will maintain regular catch ups with team in LA to discuss current projects, new collaborations or category developments.
Any other duties reasonably requested by management to achieve the role output requirements.
- Bachelors degree in fashion or related field
- 6+ years experience working in womenswear, with a focus on silk but with knowledge of cross product categories
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, with high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure with strong project and time management skills
- Confident communicating across different levels and functions within the business
- Ability to work both independently and in a highly collaborative team
- Confident working with Adobe Suite
Full time - 4 days based in Central London office, 1 day remote working
