About the job

The Editorial Operations Strategist ensures the smooth functioning of the newsroom while supporting the Head of Content in strategic planning and execution. This role oversees a blended team of in‑house and freelance writers, including those working on weekends, and is responsible for coordinating workflow, aligning resources, and balancing daily news coverage with evergreen content priorities.

What you will be doing

• Provide operational and strategic support to the Head of Content.
• Contribute to content strategy through event and topic selection.
• Design and manage schedules, ensuring efficient time allocation across daily and evergreen work.
• Assess staffing requirements (in‑house and freelance) and coordinate resource deployment, including weekend coverage.
• Act as a point of accountability (“captain”) for workflow and decision‑making.
• Collaborate with Content Project and Operations teams to maintain alignment and efficiency.

What would make you a great fit?

• Strong background in newsroom operations, editorial strategy, or content project management.
• Proven ability to manage hybrid teams (staff + freelance) and schedules spanning weekends.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Clear and confident decision‑making under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and coordination skills across editorial, operations, and project teams.
• Familiarity with digital publishing tools, editorial calendars, and analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of SEO and evergreen content best practices is a plus.
