Introduction
Artelier is a leading international Art Consultancy based in the UK and Spain. Working on the most iconic projects internationally, the company’s portfolio includes public art/exhibitions, private residential, yachts/aviation, corporate and hotels. The role is full‑time (5 days, 37.5 hours per week, £40,000‑£55,000 GBP or €40,000‑€55,000 EUR depending on experience, plus performance bonus). Remote work is possible; office based positions are preferred in Bristol, UK or Málaga, Spain.
Educationand experience
- At least 10 years of professional experience researching, curating, designing, and managing FF&E and art for international commercial, hospitality, and private projects (excluding galleries and museums).
- University degree in project management, architecture, interiors/design, or an art‑related subject.
- Track record delivering large‑scale and complex international design projects.
- Experience managing budgets over £1 million.
- Knowledge of international shipping, imports/exports, and overseas logistics.
- Team leadership, inspiring and managing a team of 5 or more.
- Experience working closely with client teams and managing project relations.
- Experience managing suppliers, preferably with artists and galleries.
- Proficiency with project management software, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and AutoCAD.
- Portfolio of design work and curation for projects, including concept presentations to detailed design and documentation, preferably with art elements.
- Passion for modern and contemporary art, with a genuine desire to expand knowledge.
- Research artists and maintain extensive knowledge of contemporary art, craft and design, including detailed making processes and materiality.
- Lead a cutting‑edge approach to art curation, staying ahead of the curve with latest art world and design developments relevant to our industries.
- Develop sophisticated, well‑researched and contextually relevant art concept presentations.
- Refine and evolve concept presentations through schematic design mark‑ups on floor plans, elevations and renders.
- Prepare detailed design documents and schedules with item specifications, procurement details and supplier information.
- Coordinate with suppliers to establish stock levels, commissioning details and arrange sampling.
- Attend project sites to curate pieces and sign off final presentation.
- Maintain a strong understanding of artistic processes, materials and production methods to support decision‑making and quality control.
- Conduct research into artists, materials and techniques to source suitable suppliers for artwork production, framing and installation.
- Review DD documents and verify artwork specifications in the lead‑up to supply.
- Manage orders and contracts with artists, oversee the commissioning process and proactively identify and address potential challenges.
- Troubleshoot technical or aesthetic issues with artworks, collaborating with the artist to find solutions.
- Oversee artwork inspections at the studio and storage facility, ensuring quality standards, and escalating issues to the Director when necessary.
- Track project timelines, monitor progress of artwork orders and provide regular reports to the Director.
- Stakeholder communication with clients, providing updates on schedules, sampling, artwork progress and completion.
- Supervise and support project assistants and art technicians to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring delivery within budget. Obtain quotes from artists and suppliers, place orders, and track payments. Present a financial summary report to the Director upon completion.
- Track client payments and liaise with the Director to ensure cash flow.
- Collaborate with shipping partners to arrange large complex international shipments, obtain quotes, collate invoices, and prepare export documentation.
- Coordinate with clients during delivery stage to ensure smooth logistics.
- Develop and maintain relationships with trusted logistics and shipping partners.
- Oversee installation of international projects on site, coordinating installation teams for a smooth on‑site delivery.
As a small company, you will also be involved in day‑to‑day administrative tasks. You should be conscientious, highly professional, confident in a client‑facing role, and able to work well within a team. The role may involve travel to key suppliers, clients and project locations.
