Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: 3D Technical Specialist 2 - Temporary

As the 3D Technical Specialist 2 – Temporary, you are the catalyst for using 3D software in product design. You advocate for digital use by creating and evolving design processes, best practices, and maintaining 3D libraries and assets. You partner and build relationships with designers and cross‑functional teams, solve problems creatively, and foster collaborative teamwork to drive responsible and sustainable design.

This role is based in our North Vancouver office and offers hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. The position is a temporary contract until January 2028, with a possibility for extension.

The 3D Creative team at Arc’teryx is an integrated group that creates industry‑leading digital assets for internal and external partners and brings digital capability and expertise to the forefront of our product creation process. We streamline workflows, create efficiencies, and uncover new opportunities in development and commercialization.

Responsibilities
  • Creating digitally accurate representations of physical products, materials, and trims, and ensuring the quality and maintenance of all related libraries.
  • Applying surface design details—including material textures and trims—to 3D renderings and supporting revisions as needed.
  • Supporting the creation of advanced renderings; creating and maintaining render scenarios, including lighting.
  • Supporting the maintenance and creation of 3D avatars, poses, and scanned objects for development and marketing use.
  • Serving as a resource for CLO 3D across the design floor, helping new users and sharing best practices.
  • Creating checkpoints throughout asset creation to ensure compliance and sign off by the appropriate partner.
  • Helping identify opportunities to reduce sampling through the use of 3D technology.
  • Upholding the Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the supply chain.
Future Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional partners on 3D projects as required.
  • Identifying new ways of improving final renders and applications of 3D assets.
  • Discovering, evaluating, and sharing other advanced digital creation technologies that support design and company objectives.
Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in design, graphic arts, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience applying 3D creation technologies (ideally in a technical apparel design environment).
  • Technical proficiency with CLO 3D, VStitcher, Substance Suite (Designer and Sampler), Modo, Blender, Unreal, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with export of UV maps and interoperability of 3D file types across various design and development tools.
  • Understanding of the design and development process.
  • Skill in creating photo‑realistic renders of 3D objects.
  • Ability to translate complex technical language into demos and documented processes to support knowledge sharing.
  • Familiarity with basic scripting (e.g., Python) and optionally with pattern and prototype creation; knowledge of Gerber is a plus.
  • Proactive root‑cause identification, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right.
  • High flexibility and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
  • Balanced autonomy and collaboration.
  • Inspiration for breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and interest in activities related to product creation.
  • Excellent team player who can take direction and work independently.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset.
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Passion for work and for outdoor adventures.
