Hourly paid lecturers are paid £50.72 per direct teaching hour. A flat rate of £20.29 per hour will be paid for completing one of the following elements of the schedule: teaching, preparation, and marking.
The number of hours required and the days of the week may vary.
AboutThe Role
Nottingham Trent University’s Department of Music and Events is seeking enthusiastic and industry-experienced Hourly Paid Lecturers (HPLs) to support teaching across a range of undergraduate courses.
We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in the following areas:
- Theatre and Performance Design
- Events Industry / Event Production
- Event Management Delivery
- Live Sound and Acoustics
- Creative Music Technology (sampling/sequencing)
- High-End Music/Audio Studio Production
- Broadcast Production (including esports)
- Motion Graphics (including esports)
- Emerging Technologies / Research
- Game Audio and Related Fields
- Audio Electronics / System Design
We particularly welcome applicants with current or recent professional industry experience who can bring real-world insight and practice into the classroom. Successful candidates will contribute to high-quality, practice-led teaching and help deliver an engaging and industry-relevant learning experience.

Based at our Metronome Estate, in the heart of one of the UK’s most dynamic creative cities, students benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities, including:
- Professional recording studios and control rooms
- A large-scale live performance venue and black box space
- Specialist music and audio production and post-production studios
- Dedicated rehearsal rooms
- Live event production and technical facilities, supporting lighting, sound and staging
These facilities are designed to replicate professional environments and support experiential learning, ensuring students graduate with the practical skills and confidence to succeed in the music and events industries.
