Job Purpose
BBC Studios is hiring a Curation Editor for , based in London. You will be part of a team curating the site and app for global audiences outside the UK, including managing the home page and other key indices during UK morning hours.
Principal Accountabilities- Promote news and factual content across the site and app during UK morning hours while adhering to editorial values and guidelines.
- Collaborate with editors across the BBC, including News and Sport divisions, on daily priorities, scheduling, and curation of big events and initiatives.
- Consider the mix of stories, formats, and audience needs throughout the day and across geographical zones.
- Ensure headlines are sharp and image choices work on mobile screens.
- Respond quickly to breaking news, update content, and write accurate push alerts.
- Drive insights to improve on‑site experience through A/B testing, experimentation, and performance analysis.
- Prepare clear handover notes and flag site or CMS issues to IT or product teams.
- Work weekends and public holidays as part of a rotating shift to meet operational needs.
- Digital journalism experience, ideally in news curation, with 3+ years in a digital publishing news environment.
- Experience as a homepage producer or editor in a news context.
- Knowledge of push notifications, content optimisation, and A/B testing.
- Strong editorial judgment, headline writing, and visual selection skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and collaborate across teams and time zones.
- Comfort with interpreting audience data to inform decisions and understanding of BBC’s impartiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organisation, planning, and time‑management skills.
- Experience working in a matrixed organisation.
- Strong attention to detail and a positive impact on newsroom culture.
