Senior Sub Editor

Join our Creative Studio as a senior sub-editor, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality content across multiple channels, demonstrating editorial excellence and supporting the development of a talented sub-editing team.

As a Senior Sub-Editor, you will be responsible for ensuring all content meets the highest standards of accuracy, consistency and brand alignment across a diverse range of marketing and editorial channels. Working closely with content, creative and editorial stakeholders, you will oversee the sub-editing process, manage priorities in a fast-paced environment and help drive best practice across the wider business. In addition to hands-on sub-editing responsibilities, you will provide leadership, mentorship and operational support to the wider sub-editing function.

• Sub-edit and proofread content across print, digital, social, email, video, packaging and internal communications channels, ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to brand guidelines.
• Write and refine headlines, stand firsts and captions that enhance content engagement and clarity.
• Oversee editorial quality control, including fact-checking, grammatical accuracy and final proofing for publication.
• Support the management of workload across the sub-editing team, including task allocation, freelance resource planning and deadline management.
• Mentor and line-manage team members while identifying opportunities to improve workflows and expand the impact of the sub-editing function.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs. You will be a highly organised editorial professional with a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for delivering exceptional content. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining outstanding standards of accuracy and quality. You will be comfortable collaborating with a range of stakeholders, providing clear guidance and constructive feedback to colleagues across the content function.

• Expert-level proficiency in Adobe InDesign and strong experience working with content management systems (CMS).
• Excellent grammar, proofreading and fact-checking skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure.
