The Travel Writer & Editor role at Kensington is a hybrid travel industry role based in Toronto, Ontario. Kensington pays $125,000 to $150,000, with incentive programs tied to business and individual performance. The editor creates travel intelligence newsletters that cover breaking travel news, regional updates, product spotlights, and partner integrations.

The hybrid Toronto editorial role requires at least 10 years of editorial and writing experience at a recognized news or media organization. Kensington is a private guided travel provider with experiences in more than 120 countries. The work requires an experienced editor who can combine travel knowledge, newsletter production, source development, analytics, and commercial judgment.

  • Role:
    Travel Writer & Editor
  • Employer:

    Kensington
  • Work arrangement:
    Hybrid
  • Location:

    Toronto, ON
  • Compensation: $125,000 to $150,000, plus incentive programs

Applicants should prepare a writing and editorial background that demonstrates long-form judgment, newsletter production, and travel knowledge. Applicants should identify the editorial work and source relationships that best represent their experience.

Kensington has spent two decades building a private guided travel business that covers Private Touring, Cruises, Villas, Yachts, Expeditions, Ultraluxe Land, Private Jets, and Air. Its travel programs reach more than 120 countries, so the editorial team works across destinations, products, and travel partners.

The newsletter portfolio covers breaking travel news, regional updates, product spotlights, and partner integrations. A newsletter editor turns those subjects into a consistent editorial product by selecting a point of view, assigning space to each story, and keeping commercial relationships separate from news judgment.

Editorial Calendar And Newsletter Production

The editor creates the editorial calendar and sets the publishing cadence for weekly briefings. The work includes curating and synthesizing travel content, writing Kensington's editorial view, and designing newsletter layouts and templates.

Newsletter production also includes testing the product after publication. A/B tests compare editorial and layout choices, while reader behavior and feedback supply evidence for later changes. The editor analyzes newsletter performance and presents its effect on leads and bookings.

  • Create and manage the editorial calendar.
  • Curate and synthesize travel content into weekly briefings.
  • Write the company's editorial view.
  • Design and refine newsletter layouts and templates.
  • Test, analyze, and present newsletter performance.
Source Relationships And Editorial Standards

The editor builds relationships with travel sources and negotiates content-sharing arrangements. Source development requires clear expectations about permissions, attribution, timing, and the difference between original reporting and partner material.

Professional travel organizations such as ASTA provide guidance on professionalism and ethics and traveler-friendly conduct across the industry.

Analytics, Tools, And Travel Expertise

Kensington requires experience with newsletter product development, content-sharing or syndication relationships, A/B testing, analytics, and PBI. The role also calls for proficiency with AI tools, Asana, Hub Spot, and PBI, alongside editorial credibility and a deep passion for travel.

An editor who understands travel customer service can make destination information useful to travelers. IATA's travel customer service course covers communication, technology-enabled service, loyalty, difficult-customer handling, and workplace stress for travel professionals.

Experience For A Senior Editorial Seat

The position calls for 10 or more years of editorial and writing experience at a recognized news or media organization. Journalism training is strongly preferred, and the work depends on editorial credibility, strong writing, source judgment, and the ability to translate complex travel information into clear briefings.

The role combines office-based and remote work in Toronto, Ontario. Kensington's editorial group coordinates with destination experts, travel sources, business teams, and newsletter readers, so the position requires clear written communication and reliable collaboration across work streams.
