Online Merchandiser
DF Supply, Inc. Content Department is seeking a full-time, in-person (not remote) Online Merchandiser to write and maintain product listings, blog-style articles, and webpages to improve search engine rankings and the user experience. This position requires a detail-oriented person with the patience to research and review information – ensuring accuracy and completeness. The ideal applicant has strong problem-solving skills, an openness to learn a variety of product lines, and a willingness to ask questions to describe products on a basic to semi-technical level for our online customers.
* This position is for someone willing to write original content, not generate AI content. We use AI as a tool to understand products and make simple processes more efficient.
Responsibilities
The day-to-day depends on existing projects and immediate updates but may include one or more of the following.
- Writing or revising product titles to clarify the purpose and compatibility, including keywords, and matching the formatting of like products site by site
- Writing or revising short product descriptions to briefly explain the purpose, compatibility, function, and features of the product
- Writing or revising product descriptions including a summary of the product followed by bullet point features and specifications
- Adding and updating product attributes (filterable characteristics)
- Writing informational and instructional content for blog-style articles using our in-house HTML style guide templates
- Writing and formatting landing page content, including category grids and header paragraphs
- Making small edits and uploading product images and PDFs
Qualifications:
- Excel basics - data table creation, filtering, sorting
- Ability to handle large data sets (sometimes 1000+ Excel rows)
- Ability to balance accuracy and time efficiency
- Clear and friendly written and verbal communication skills
- Patience to learn about a wide variety of products
- Willingness to adopt new processes
- Problem-solving mindset
- Creative/Visual eye for page formatting and design
- Basic understanding and regard for SEO best practices – keywords and phrasing, original and unique content
Bonus Skills/
Experience:
- Basic understanding of HTML
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop
- Interest in e-commerce SEO strategy for both B2B and B2C businesses
