Senior Concept Artist

Our client is looking for a talented and imaginative Senior Concept Artist to join their vibrant team in Port Elizabeth. This role is essential in establishing the visual direction and aesthetic for new projects, creating compelling artwork that defines characters, environments, and props. You will work closely with the art director and other artists to explore visual possibilities and establish the mood and style.

This position is perfect for an artist with a strong foundational understanding of art principles, excellent visual storytelling skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid model that supports both studio interaction and focused individual work.

• Create high-quality concept art for characters, environments, props, and key moments, defining the visual style and mood of projects.
• Collaborate with the art director and development team to iterate on designs and ensure they meet project requirements and artistic vision.
• Explore multiple visual directions and present compelling ideas through sketches, mood boards, and polished illustrations.
• Maintain a high level of artistic quality and consistency throughout the concepting process.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques in concept art and digital illustration to continually enhance skills and contribute fresh ideas to the team in Port Elizabeth.

• A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional skill in character design, environment design, and illustration.
• Proficiency with digital painting software such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or similar tools.
• Thorough understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, perspective, and anatomy.
• Experience in a professional concept art role, preferably within the gaming or entertainment industry.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to receive and incorporate feedback effectively within a hybrid team.
