Are you the friend who always drops a “Did you know?” fact? Do you spend hours in Wikipedia rabbit holes, or pride yourself on predicting season finale twists before anyone else does? If you love deep-diving into stories, rumours or gossip, and fact-checking every detail to uncover the secrets that no one else knows, we want to hear from you!
Our true crime research team at Unseen is expanding, and our ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for media (like You Tube, documentaries, movies, TV shows, internet theories, and more!), is extremely curious and creative, has an interest in true crime, and believes that stories have the power to change the world. If you are enthusiastic about Unseen’s mission to make the world a better place, and are excited to see how you can contribute, we want to hear from you.
What you will do:- Work closely with the research team to bring your ideas to life and craft impactful stories
- Conduct true crime research for stories in the production pipeline
- Browse and analyze articles, documentaries, podcasts, interrogations, and any other useful sources to find new and interesting stories to tell
- Build comprehensive research documents to pitch the stories to the editing team
- Be continuously be plugged into the world of trending media, and true crime
- Deliver thorough research while maintaining the highest journalistic standards
- Attend 1 weekly zoom meeting with the research team to collaborate on stories in the pipeline and share your findings
- Passionate about true crime, pop culture, history, and the bizarre-but-true stories
- Critical thinking skills; you know how, & when, to dig deeper in emotional stories
- Strong storytelling instincts; you can spot a story that needs to be told
- Strong organizational skills; you’re able to structure notes clearly and logically
- A lover of feedback; receiving it, and giving it!
- High attention to detail; accuracy matters!
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, & written!
- Startup mindset; you thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Emotional intelligence; you handle sensitive material with thoughtfulness and care
- 1+ years of experience related to storytelling, film, media, communications
- Background in media production or journalism
- This position is freelance / remote
, but there’s also the opportunity to evolve into a permanent full time position based on performance in the role (and if there’s interest!). - This position is part time (between 20-30 hours).
