Mickey Farrow is seeking a remote freelance editor for an ongoing collaboration across his You Tube channel and comedy video work. Mickey is a NYC comedian, storyteller, and creator with an established social audience of 100K+.Mickey is working on several key projects:
Calling Marlene:
From Script to Stage
- These episodes range from personal documentary to vlog to podcast interviews that follow the development of his one-man show.
Standup Comedy
- Mickey's stand up performances and cut down comedy clips.
Food Show:
More information to be provided. We are looking for an editor who can help shape a story: find the character moments, build a clear arc, recognize the comedy, and let emotional moments breathe. The documentary work calls for thoughtful pacing and emotional restraint, with an engaging, personal voice. Strong documentary judgment matters more than a constant stream of effects or fast cuts.
Package
- 4 long-form You Tube videos per month, supporting a regular weekly release schedule.
- Approximately 2-4 vertical cutdowns from each long-form video (8–16 per month), with the exact number and clip scope agreed before work begins.
- Budget: $2,500 USD per month for the agreed package, although videos with additional work can be discussed.
- Recurring freelance collaboration, ideally hybrid, but open to fully remote.
The monthly mix of projects, video length, source-footage volume, turnaround, revision limits, and finishing requirements will be agreed before the engagement begins. Stand-up edits may be included in the agreed monthly mix or scoped separately, depending on their length and complexity. Additional videos, cutdowns, or work outside the agreed package will be scoped and quoted separately. You will collaborate directly with Mickey on story structure, selects, pacing, character, and comedic timing;
develop cuts in Adobe Premiere Pro; incorporate consolidated feedback; and deliver organized project files and final exports. The vertical cutdowns should stand on their own, with enough context to make a story moment or joke land.
- Strong documentary and storytelling judgment: turning source footage into a clear, compelling narrative with character and a point of view.
- A feel for comedy timing, conversational rhythm, and when to hold on a reaction or let a moment breathe.
- Ability to edit stand-up performances and comedy clips while preserving joke setups, punchlines, audience reactions, and the rhythm of the performance.
- Thoughtful pacing and emotional restraint; sensitivity to personal material.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, including organized media, sequences, project handoff, and reliable exports.
- Skills in motion graphics are a plus.
- Ability to adapt long-form moments into coherent vertical cutdowns with readable captions and appropriate framing.
- Practical dialogue cleanup, audio balancing, basic color correction, and simple titles/captions within an agreed finishing scope.
- Clear communication, realistic scheduling, and a collaborative approach to feedback.
- Relevant work samples matter more than a specific number of years or formal credentials.
