We’re looking for a Science Media Producer with a flair for organising and hosting digital events on a wide variety of topics relevant to chemical scientists worldwide. This includes events organised by Chemistry World, supporting those led by our colleagues across the organisation, and working with commercial partners. You will be a confident presenter and speaker, and comfortable with live broadcast scenarios as well as dealing with an audience.
You will be involved in presenting and producing episodes in our popular podcast series. If you are a confident, natural presenter who enjoys managing a live broadcast and a lively audience Q&A as well as planning, scripting and editing behind the scenes, we would love to hear from you. At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate.
This is a hybrid role based in Cambridge. You will have the flexibility to work at home or from the office. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.
- Plan and deliver digital events such as webinars, from lining up guests and preparing marketing material to rehearsals and technical support
- Host and present events, guiding speaker panels and leading audience Q&A sessions
- Work with colleagues across the RSC and with commercial clients to develop events that bring real value to our community
- Commission, record and present podcast episodes, and build strong relationships with contributors
- Keep an eye on the podcasting landscape and spot opportunities to grow our listening audience
- Support the Digital Editor and Digital Content Producer in preparing video, audio and data visualisations for web and social media
- Turn editorial ideas for multimedia content into clear production briefs
- Find new ways to involve our community, including running social media schedules for sponsored content
- Degree level qualification in a relevant scientific field
- Experience of science communication through qualification or professional background
- Confident speaker and presenter
- Experience with interviewing scientists and industry representatives in a live environment
- Experience of writing, editing and fact-checking scripts for podcast and video voiceover
- Knowledge and experience of equipment and technologies available for recording and producing audio and video
- Experience of writing and preparing content for the web, including social media
- 26 days’ paid holiday per annum plus bank holidays.
- Pension plan with up to 12% employer contributions (depending upon your contribution).
- Life assurance at 3 times basic annual salary.
- Enhanced parental leave.
- Paid volunteering days.
