Overview
Senior Service Designer - Inside IR35 Contract – Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
Responsibilities- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team to deliver results across GDS projects for Version 1’s customers in the public sector.
- Engage with users and stakeholders to determine the best design approach for products and services, considering end-to-end journeys and individual design elements.
- Demonstrate your ability to understand users, design to meet their needs, and communicate design decisions effectively while adhering to relevant design standards.
- Design the end-to-end journey of a service to help the user achieve their goal and the customer to deliver policy intent, including potential changes to transactions, products and content across digital and offline channels.
- Be eligible for SC clearance to be considered for this role.
- Design thinking and evidence-based design: strong understanding of design thinking and the ability to apply appropriate frameworks; evidence-based approach to testing assumptions to ensure simple, feasible user solutions.
- Concepts and prototyping: ability to create and iterate prototypes with appropriate fidelity, evaluate concepts, and explain designs to stakeholders; apply and adapt design patterns and participate in broader design community discussions.
- Accessible/Inclusive design: understanding of key accessibility principles and ability to apply them; evaluate designs against accessibility standards.
- Design standards: knowledge of common design standards and how designs comply with sector-specific standards; awareness of UK public sector design standards and GDS assessment processes.
- Focus on users and their needs: conduct basic user research as appropriate, collaborate with researchers, test usability and accessibility, and explain design decisions and constraints.
- Consultancy skills: communicate design process and decisions effectively to gain stakeholder confidence; manage stakeholders and know when to escalate issues.
- Agile working in multidisciplinary teams: align design work with agile workflows across the development lifecycle; work in an open, iterative, collaborative manner.
