Captain CKD

We are looking for self-motivated, ambitious, and talented individuals to work on tasks including all aspects of landscape design and construction drawing production at a range of scales from master planning documentation to detailed site design. The Job Captain must demonstrate the ability to manage and coordinate the efforts of others effectively. This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills for use in an interactive design team, and an ability to work at a variety of project scales from planning to detail design.

• Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program, related fields or an AA degree will be considered
• 5 or more years of experience working under the direction of a licensed landscape architect
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft 365
• Experience with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketch Up
• LEED and/or Rescape certification a plus

• Support large and lead small projects from concept to construction, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget goals are met
• Prepare and review drawings, details, and specifications for layout, materials, planting, irrigation, grading, and drainage
• Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants, and contractors throughout all project phases
• Manage construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and site observations
• Produce presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent
• Oversee and mentor junior staff and review their work for accuracy and quality
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes, sustainability standards, and construction methods

• Strong written, oral, and graphic presentation and communication skills
• Time management and multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of planting design, California native, climate-adapted plant material, lowmaintenance/low-water plant selections, and water efficient landscape ordinances
• Understanding of irrigation design
• Basic principles of grading, drainage, erosion control, and stormwater management
• Knowledge of landscape construction materials, methods, detailing, and specifications
• Solid grasp of the principles and practices of landscape architecture and urban design
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Strong desire to learn in support of growing the practice and the profession
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
