Freese & Nichols is seeking a highly‑motivated Urban Designer/Campus Planner to join our Urban Planning & Design group. Candidates with a background in landscape architecture are encouraged to apply. This role will manage and develop urban design and campus planning projects across several offices in Texas and the Carolinas.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively within a multi‑discipline team.
  • Produce well‑written reports and highly visual documents.
  • Develop design projects from conceptual through schematic design to construction administration.
  • Ensure technical correctness and timeliness, staying within client budgets and expectations.
  • Travel as needed for project commitments.
  • Facilitate public involvement meetings and workshops.
  • Support marketing and client development, including drafting proposals.
  • Represent the firm at conferences and meetings.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of large projects.
  • Maintain liaisons internally and externally.
  • Supervise technicians and planners, with potential to lead a team in Central Texas.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of urban design and campus planning experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, or architecture.
Preferred

Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and rendering/visualization programs.
  • Strong freehand illustration and rendering skills.
  • AICP certification or registered landscape architect/architect in the state, or ability to obtain reciprocal licensing.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects, facilitation, scope development, and client engagement in a government‑client and institutional‑client firm.
