Position: Job Captain | Multi-Family Housing

Overview

A San Diego-based architectural studio is currently looking for a Job Captain to join its collaborative team environment. In this full-time position, you will work directly with principals and project managers on architectural projects, primarily multi-family housing and education projects. As a team member, you'll be involved in all project phases, attend job sites, participate in meetings, and have diverse responsibilities, with opportunities for growth through mentorship in our close-knit, collaborative atmosphere.

Job Captain Responsibilities:

  • Develop and organize Revit models in coordination with in-house teams and project consultants

  • Prepare and coordinate comprehensive construction documents, including detailed project design and technical specifications

  • Integrate applicable building and zoning codes into construction documentation

  • Coordinate the efforts of the consultant team to ensure project alignment

  • Manage the permitting and plan check process with various local jurisdictions

  • Assist in establishing project schedules, deliverables, and milestones

  • Support the coordination and assignment of team tasks, goals, and deliverables

  • Participate in quality assurance reviews to maintain project standards

  • Contribute to design development and assist with design presentations

  • Support the construction administration process and coordination efforts

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited program

  • Between 3-6 years experience in an architectural office preferred

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in Revit

  • Demonstrated knowledge in DD/CD/Permitting on large multi-family projects

  • Familiar with Type VA and Type IA construction

  • Experienced in wood-frame multi-family housing;
    California experience preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience assembling construction documents

  • Experience with construction administration

  • Familiarity with state and local building and zoning codes, including accessibility standards

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Strong design sensibility and attention to aesthetics

  • Proficiency in Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
