Job Title:

Medical Planner Job Description

The Medical Planner exercises independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques in the design and planning of medical and healthcare facilities. This role involves applying a diversified knowledge of architectural principles, practices, and procedures to deliver creative and effective solutions. The planner anticipates project needs and contributes to design strategies and implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and coordinate architectural layouts, including floor plans, interior elevations, ceiling plans, and equipment arrangements for clinical spaces.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to project team members as needed.
  • Maintain design intent through all phases, from concept to documentation and implementation.
  • Participate in early-stage design and planning for healthcare facilities.
  • Convert operational workflows into functional architectural and medical planning solutions.
  • Act as a liaison for client inquiries and ensure clear communication.
  • Interpret and apply regulatory codes and healthcare licensing standards to ensure compliance.
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders and end users to identify and implement practical solutions.
  • Prepare and review drawings and documentation in alignment with industry standards and quality benchmarks.
  • Incorporate research findings and evidence-based design principles into planning decisions.
  • Organize and contribute to team meetings focused on technical coordination and project progress.
  • Document client interactions and prepare meeting summaries for consultant coordination.
  • Understand project financial processes and assist in managing budgets and schedules.
  • Support delivery of projects within established timelines and cost parameters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development efforts through proposals and opportunity identification.
Essential Skills
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare design and planning.
  • Proficiency in architecture, medical planning, project management, and schedule planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, Grasshopper) preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Advanced understanding of healthcare planning concepts, patient safety, and evidence-based design principles.
  • Familiarity with guidelines for design and construction of healthcare facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural building systems, building codes, and accessibility standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Architectural Registration strongly preferred.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 – $43.26/hr.
