Job Summary:
Interior Designer – Entry Level
This is a hybrid position with three days in person and up to 2 days remote work subject to project and team needs. The position is located at NK Architects NJ office, 95 Washington Street, Morristown NJ, 07960.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Architectural team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is looking to grow their talents and increase exposure in the field of Architecture with specific focus in institutional project work, primarily healthcare and/or education. The candidate should possess a degree in interior design (from a CIDA accredited program) but need not be certified.
The candidate will be a strong team player with a keen desire to join our integrated team of design professionals. The select candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, project architects and designers in all our geographies (NY, NJ & PA).
- Demonstrates an interest in healthcare and education project types.
- Independently perform assignments for moderate-scale projects
- Understand the overall design process and work towards developing and documenting design concepts.
- Conduct programming and space planning efforts under the guidance of senior team members.
- Able to select and specify finishes, furniture, and lighting under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assists contract administration team in installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings.
- Produces written documentation related to project including meeting documentation, transmittals, memoranda.
- Collaborate with the architectural design team and / or healthcare planner to review, correct, and update construction documents through all phases of design.
- Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
- Become familiar with a client or institution’s design and finish standards.
- Assist in design presentations and be capable of explaining the design intent and concept.
- Comfortable and versed working with senior level management and Principals of the
- Communicates with consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Self-motivated and energetic individual who can inspire the team and work closely with others.
- Comfortable in a fast paced and energetic environment and conscious of meeting deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative work ethic
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Revit required.
- Proficiency in Enscape and/or other rendering software required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign required.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Newforma a plus
- Proficiency in Sketchup a plus
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
- Working towards NCIDQ certification
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
