We are seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Technician to support the design and delivery of repair projects from concept through construction. The successful candidate will work closely with our specialist divisions including our major project surveying team, general surveying teams, and on heritage projects to produce accurate technical drawings, coordinate with building surveyors and specialist consultants, and ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations and standards.
Responsibilities- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using CAD/BIM software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit)
- Develop technical details for construction and tender documentation
- Oversee and support building surveyors, engineers, and specialist consultants with design development and project coordination within a collaborative, organised team, reporting in to lead surveyor who will be the design lead for the scheme generally.
- Represent Crawford Building Consultancy in client and design team meetings.
- Maintain high standards of design quality, budget control, and timely delivery.
- Ensure drawings comply with local building codes, planning regulations and standards.
- Coordinate and integrate information from structural, mechanical, and electrical consultants
- Revise drawings in response to client feedback, planning conditions, and construction queries
- Support site inspections and respond to contractor RFIs as required
- Maintain organised project documentation and drawing registers
- Contribute to business development with creative, commercially minded input.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology or a related field
- Experience working on residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects is an advantage
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, and/or Revit (BIM experience preferred)
- Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and detailing
- Knowledge of building regulations, planning processes, and technical standards
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with BIM workflows and coordination
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and building performance
- Knowledge of The Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations and the requirement for a designer risk assessment as Principal Designer.
- Knowledge of heritage standards
- Familiarity with rendering or presentation software (e.g. Sketch Up, Enscape, Adobe Suite)
