Architectural CAD Technician (Contract – 3–6 Months)

Office-based with up to 2 days per week working from home

Our Architectural practice client are currently seeking an experienced Architectural CAD Technician to join their team on a 3–6 month contract basis, which will be outside of IR35.

This role will support ongoing building projects and requires strong technical drawing ability, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of building construction.

This position is based in either York or Pontefract, with the option to work from home up to two days per week.

Key Responsibilities

Producing accurate 2D drawings using AutoCAD

Drawing and checking line work to ensure technical accuracy and compliance

Inputting and interpreting survey information into CAD drawings

Preparing architectural plans, elevations, sections, and details

Amending drawings in line with project and client requirements

Coordinating drawing information with internal teams and consultants

Ensuring drawings comply with current building regulations and industry standards

Supporting the wider technical team with general CAD duties

Requirements

Strong, proven AutoCAD experience (essential)

Solid understanding of buildings, construction methods, and detailing

Experience working on UK-based building projects

Ability to accurately interpret and input survey data

Excellent attention to detail and line accuracy

Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Strong communication skills

Desirable

Experience working within architectural or building consultancy environments

Knowledge of UK Building Regulations

Experience producing technical construction details
