Senior Landscape Designer​/Landscape Architect

Hapa Collaborative is a nationally recognized landscape architecture and urban design practice, deeply committed to the creation of connected and livable communities. With a team of 14 staff across studios in Vancouver and Victoria, we have worked within the full breadth of scales, from master plans to pocket parks, civic spaces to private residences, and streetscapes to green roofs. We love exploring new materials, building lasting relationships, and ultimately creating cherished spaces. The insights we have gained by working closely with the public have created our foundation for an excellent design team: strong leadership and design fundamentals, engaging presentation skills, experienced technical knowledge, and a keen ear.

We are growing and looking to add to our fast‑paced studio. Currently, we are interested in meeting with Senior Landscape Designers and/or Landscape Architects with 7+ years’ experience for our Vancouver studio.

This position requires a collaborative, organized individual with initiative, capable of working independently, and offers experience working on a wide variety of project types and scales. We are looking for a team member able to manage individual projects, contribute to project documentation and graphic communication including project renderings and the assembly of reports, narratives, and presentations. Project experience in sustainable design and landscapes over structures is preferred.

You want to learn and be able to contribute to a wide array of project types and scales and be part of the growth of a strong and creative team. You want to be involved with a project from start to finish; attend design charettes, sketch with your colleagues, build models, put together a CD package and complete a substantial completion site visit.

• Project management, including coordination with sub‑consultants;
• Project pursuits, business development and proposal writing;
• Production of conceptual designs, detailed design, contract documents, and construction administration;
• Coordinating and participating in client meetings, public consultations and presentations;
• Construction administration, including site visits and coordination meetings.

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or from an accredited program;
• Seven or more years of experience in landscape architecture or related discipline;
• Although not required, licensed in the Province of British Columbia or having the ability to apply for reciprocity will be considered a benefit;
• Experience at a landscape architecture design office or allied profession is an asset;
• Proficiency using AutoCAD and/or Revit to prepare drawings for permit and construction sets under the guidance of a project manager (proficiency with Revit as plus);
• Experience with background review work including site analysis, design research, precedent study, surveys, zoning and planning studies;
• Experience with construction administration;
• Familiarity with coordination of work with other consultants, and the preparation of construction plans and details;
• High level of proficiency with digital and physical modelling, preparing materials for public consultation and client meetings, and design drawings including illustrative plans, sections and elevations, and character sketches and renderings;
• Excellent sense of spatial design and superior written, graphic, and oral communication skills;
• Ability to be inquisitive, unafraid to ask questions, and work as a self‑starting individual as part of a collaborative team.

Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year.
