Position: Senior Landscape Architect (983)

Senior Landscape Architect

We're looking for a talented Landscape Architect to join our Landscape and Open Spaces team at a time of significant growth and investment, to help shape new neighbourhoods, parks and public spaces that will benefit residents for generations.

You will lead projects that enhance public spaces, parks, play areas, green and blue infrastructure across the borough. These support a diverse natural environment that the council places great value on, with a wealth of parks and open spaces, beautiful villages and the North Wessex Downs National landscape, making the borough a great place to live and work.

This is an opportunity to see your ideas progress from concept to completion, creating places that improve residents' daily lives while helping to shape the area's future growth and development.

Working alongside a range of colleagues, including green space professionals, ecologists, tree specialists, planners and rangers, you'll have a wide range of work, delivering projects and influencing planning decisions, ensuring high-quality landscapes are delivered for current and future communities. This supportive environment offers space to share ideas, broaden your expertise and bring the latest thinking in landscape design and place‑making into your everyday work.

In delivering part of a significant capital budget, you’ll be responsible for managing excellent projects through every stage of the project lifecycle — designing schemes, delivering community engagements, preparing and coordinating tenders, and overseeing works on site to ensure our landscapes are built to last within available budgets.

You’ll also influence the borough’s future growth, by helping to shape landscape policies in the local plan and by providing expert landscape advice on planning applications, ensuring new development supports our policies and aspirations.

This position would best suit someone who wants to make a difference and is motivated by having a diverse and varied workload. The role involves hybrid working with up to 40% home working and flexibility around project and team requirements.

We Are Looking For An Enthusiastic And Self-motivated Individual With a Good Knowledge And Understanding Of Current Landscape Issues. You Will Have a Proven Track Record Of Working As a Landscape Architect And Will Have

  • A degree or postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture
  • Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute or be an experienced landscape architect actively working towards Chartership.
  • An evidenced record of developing and delivering landscape projects from initial concept through to on site implementation and completion.
  • Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A genuine passion for creating sustainable and high quality landscapes that people love

Experience in community consultation or landscape planning is an advantage, but not essential. We’re committed to helping you grow your career, with ongoing support and the potential for mentoring.
