Part II Architectural Assistant
Location: Baughurst, Hampshire, RG26 5JH
Practice: Buckland Architects
Position: Full-time
Salary: £30k-£35k, dependent on experience
Buckland Architects is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Part II Architectural Assistant to join our practice in Baughurst, Hampshire.
We are seeking someone with strong design ability, good technical knowledge and a genuine interest in creating thoughtful, well-crafted architecture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of projects and gain experience through multiple stages of the RIBA Plan of Work
.
The role Working closely with the Director as well as the wider project teams, you will be involved in projects from concept design through planning, technical design and construction.
Responsibilities will include:- Developing architectural models and drawings in Revit
- Preparing Planning Applications and Building Regulations Applications
- Producing high-quality drawings, details and presentation material
- Developing technical design and construction information
- Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and local authorities
- Attending design team, client and site meetings
- Undertaking site visits and assisting with projects during construction
- Researching materials, products and construction methods
- Supporting the preparation of specifications and schedules
- Contributing to the design culture and development of the practice
- Working outside, assisting with the construction of our various self-initiated projects
As a small practice, the position provides an opportunity to take meaningful responsibility for projects and gain broad experience rather than being limited to a single stage or package.
About you We are looking for someone who:- Holds a recognised RIBA Part II qualification or equivalent
- Demonstrates strong architectural and design ability
- Learns fast and takes initiative
- Has experience using Revit at more than just a beginner level
- Ideally has an understanding of construction and technical detailing
- Is organised and comfortable managing their own workload
- Communicates confidently with clients and other members of the design team
- Has excellent written and spoken English
- Has a positive, collaborative and proactive approach
Experience of residential, heritage, rural or bespoke projects would be advantageous.
SoftwareExperience with the following is required:
- Revit
- Adobe In Design
- Microsoft Office
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Acrobat Professional development We are keen to support the successful candidate's continued professional development and progression towards Part III and qualification as an Architect
.
The role offers direct exposure to project delivery, clients, consultants, contractors and the practical and professional aspects of running architectural projects.
LocationThe position is based at our home-office based practice in Baughurst, Hampshire, RG26 5JH
, close to Tadley and within reach of Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury.
Due to the location of the office and the nature of architectural work, including site visits, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required
.
Occasional working from home will be allowed by agreement.
Start Date & Working Hours The earliest start date for this role is 2nd November 2026, but exact date will be subject to agreement.
Working hours are 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday.
