This role is part of AECOM’s mission to transform urban landscapes through sustainable development. The Sustainable Urban Planning Specialist will lead initiatives to design eco-friendly city infrastructure, optimize land use, and integrate green technologies into urban environments.

• Develop and implement urban planning strategies that prioritize sustainability and community needs.
• Conduct feasibility studies for new infrastructure projects, including environmental impact assessments.
• Collaborate with local governments and stakeholders to align projects with regional development goals.
• Design urban mobility solutions that reduce carbon footprints and enhance public transportation accessibility.
• Lead workshops and public consultations to engage communities in planning processes.

• Expertise in GIS mapping and urban design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating urban development trends and data.
• Knowledge of South African urban policy frameworks and sustainability regulations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies for large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development or Urban Studies preferred.

• 3-5 years of experience in urban planning or environmental consulting.
• Proven track record in delivering sustainable infrastructure projects in South Africa.

SSP 45,000 – SSP 55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
