Job Description & How to Apply Below

Fried Rice Experience (FRE-X) is a Singapore-based immersive entertainment company that creates and operates IP-driven exhibitions, interactive experiences, and large-scale cultural events across Southeast Asia. The team partners with leading IP owners, studios, museums, and destination stakeholders to transform globally recognised brands and stories into experience-led environments powered by design, technology, and storytelling. FRE-X manages end-to-end execution, including venue operations, production, and audience engagement, to deliver high-impact experiences for local and international visitors.

Role Description

The Exhibition & Spatial Designer is a full-time, Singapore-based role with a hybrid arrangement of four days in-office and one day working from home, subject to project and on-site requirements.

You will conceptualise and develop exhibition and spatial designs that bring IP-driven stories to life through immersive layouts, structures, and environments.

Working closely with the concept development, production, and operations teams, you will translate creative briefs into spatial plans, 3D models, renders, and visual presentations. Responsibilities include preparing design documentation, coordinating with vendors and fabricators, and refining designs in response to creative feedback, licensor requirements, and practical production considerations.

You will help ensure that installations align with approved designs, brand and IP guidelines, visitor-experience goals, and project budgets and timelines, while incorporating relevant safety and accessibility requirements in coordination with the project team.

The role includes site visits, material reviews, prototyping, and on-site design support during fabrication and installation.

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant working experience in exhibition design, spatial design, interior design, experiential design, or a related field.
  • A diploma or degree in Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Spatial Design, Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong spatial-planning skills, with an understanding of visitor flow, storytelling, functionality, and visual impact.
  • Proficiency in relevant 3D modelling, visualisation, and rendering software.
  • Ability to prepare clear, dimensioned plans, elevations, sections, and design details for coordination with production teams and fabricators.
  • Skills in concept sketching, graphic presentation, and visual communication.
  • Understanding of materials, fabrication methods, lighting, and basic construction principles relevant to temporary exhibitions and experiential environments.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with external vendors, contractors, and fabricators.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage design revisions and competing deadlines.
  • Comfortable working on-site during production and installation phases.
  • A portfolio demonstrating relevant spatial or experiential projects, ideally including both design development and completed installations. Please indicate your individual contribution to each project.
  • Applicants must be legally authorised to work in Singapore for this role, with any required work authorisation in place before employment commences.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Takes ownership: Follows through on assigned work, keeps others informed, and flags potential issues early.
  • Collaborates openly: Communicates clearly, respects different areas of expertise, and works constructively with colleagues, licensors, and suppliers.
  • Welcomes feedback: Able to explain their design thinking while remaining receptive to revisions and alternative approaches.
  • Thinks practically: Finds creative solutions that balance visual ambition with budget, fabrication, installation, and operational constraints.
  • Stays curious and adaptable: Enjoys exploring new ideas, materials, and technologies, and responds thoughtfully when project requirements change.
  • Cares about the details: Considers not just how a space looks, but how visitors experience it and how the team delivers it.
