About the Role

Our client, a visionary urban planning and design consultancy, is seeking an experienced Lead Urban Designer to shape transformative projects, primarily serving the Nelspruit region and surrounding areas. You will lead the conceptualization and development of sustainable, human-centered urban environments, integrating landscape architecture, transportation planning, and architectural design. This role demands a strategic thinker with a passion for creating vibrant, resilient communities and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a remote-first setting.

• Lead the design process for urban development projects, from strategic planning to detailed design.
• Develop master plans, design guidelines, and concept designs for public spaces and new developments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, and community groups, to build consensus.
• Prepare compelling presentations, visualizations, and reports to communicate design proposals.
• Manage project teams, consultants, and project budgets effectively in a remote setup.
• Advocate for sustainable urban design principles and innovative placemaking strategies.

• Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in urban design and planning, with a portfolio showcasing large-scale projects.
• Proficiency in urban design software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning, and public policy.
• Proven leadership experience and excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote environment.
