Job OverviewThis role is part of AECOM’s mission to transform urban landscapes through sustainable development. The Sustainable Urban Planning Specialist will lead initiatives to design eco-friendly city infrastructure, optimize land use, and integrate green technologies into urban environments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement urban planning strategies that prioritize sustainability and community needs.
- Conduct feasibility studies for new infrastructure projects, including environmental impact assessments.
- Collaborate with local governments and stakeholders to align projects with regional development goals.
- Design urban mobility solutions that reduce carbon footprints and enhance public transportation accessibility.
- Lead workshops and public consultations to engage communities in planning processes.
- Expertise in GIS mapping and urban design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating urban development trends and data.
- Knowledge of South African urban policy frameworks and sustainability regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development or Urban Studies preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in urban planning or environmental consulting.
- Proven track record in delivering sustainable infrastructure projects in South Africa.
SSP 45,000 – SSP 55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
