Experienced Design Manager required by the Newbury office of this established regional main contractor to take ownership of two projects from preconstruction through to delivery
.

Working closely with clients, consultants and the wider project teams, you will manage the design process from the early stages through construction, coordinating project design teams and ensuring information is developed and issued in line with programme requirements.

Typical projects are circa £15m and include extra-care and retirement developments, care homes and housing-association schemes, using both traditional construction and steel-frame solutions.

The current pipeline includes extra-care developments in Southwest Reading, Farnborough and Bordon
, alongside science and research facilities at Harwell Science Park, Abingdon
.

About the Company/Client/Project:

This opportunity is with the £50m-turnover Newbury office of an established regional main contractor delivering projects across the South.

The office has a strong pipeline of upcoming work across residential, care and science/research sectors, providing the successful Design Manager with the opportunity to take projects from the early design stages through to construction and completion.

The role offers a high level of project ownership within an established design function, alongside one day working from home
.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

You will ideally have experience working within a main contractor environment in a Design Management or Design Coordination capacity, with the ability to manage consultants, subcontractor design input and wider project stakeholders.

Previous experience within residential, care-home, extra-care or retirement-living projects would be advantageous, although strong Design Managers from other relevant building sectors will also be considered.

You will possess strong technical and organisational skills, good knowledge of the construction process and the ability to manage design information from preconstruction through live project delivery.

Strong communication, attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving design issues will be important for the role.
