Heritage Conservation Architect

Our client is seeking a specialized Conservation Architect to join their team, focusing on the preservation and sensitive restoration of heritage buildings in and around Soweto
. This role requires a unique blend of architectural expertise, historical knowledge, and a deep understanding of conservation principles and materials. You will lead projects aimed at protecting and enhancing the architectural heritage of the region. This hybrid position allows for essential site work and collaborative office sessions, combined with flexible remote work arrangements.

• Assess the condition of heritage buildings and develop conservation management plans.
• Design and oversee restoration, refurbishment, and adaptive reuse projects for historic structures.
• Prepare detailed specifications for heritage-sensitive materials and construction techniques.
• Liaise with heritage bodies, local authorities, and clients on conservation matters.
• Ensure all conservation work adheres to relevant national and international standards and best practices.

• Professional Architect registration with SACAP.
• Significant experience in heritage architecture and conservation projects.
• Strong knowledge of historical building typologies, materials, and construction methods.
• Familiarity with relevant heritage legislation and conservation guidelines.
• Excellent research, documentation, and project management skills.
