Applications are invited for a Fellowship post in Cornea and Ocular Surface Disease. The proposed start date is 3rd August 2026. This is one of three corneal/OSD fellowships that offer excellent opportunities for clinical and surgical training and for clinical and basic science research. Candidates need to have equivalence to level 4 competency in cataract surgery and a good record of research publications.
MainDuties of the Job
Applications are invited for Fellowship posts in Cornea and Ocular Surface Disease. The proposed start date 3rd August 2026. These fellowships offer excellent opportunities for clinical and surgical training and for clinical and basic science research. Candidates need to have equivalence to level 4 competency in cataract surgery and a good record of research publications.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential criteria- FRCOphth., FRCS or equivalent
- PhD, MD (research), BSc
- Publications in subspecialty field within the last 3 years
- Clinical or basic science research project idea or question
- Completion of core training and further experience in clinical and surgical skills commensurate with demands of the post
- Evidence of being a competent cataract surgeon
- Possession of new skill not available in department
- Experience in keratoconus management, corneal surgery
- Experience in corneal imaging including confocal microscopy
- Flexible attitude to work, team working, punctual and conscientious

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant’s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £23 (standard disclosure) or £43 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
