The Obstetrician/Gynecologist will provide clinical services in line with a broad obstetrics and gynecological scope of practice that primarily includes inpatient Labor and Delivery coverage, inpatient gynecological service coverage (ER consults, emergency GYN surgery). Can discuss possibilities of elective gynecologic surgery, office obstetrics and gynecology, and women’s preventive care.
Responsibilities- Provide inpatient Labor and Delivery and acute GYN coverage in a Safety Net Healthcare system with a mission driven community of clinical providers.
- Contribute to our broader team of passionate obstetrics and gynecology health experts in designating Alameda Health System as a leader in equitable, just, high value reproductive healthcare.
- Participate in a collaborative, person-centered care model that is supported by our distinctions on California’s Maternity Care Honor Roll, Opioid Care Honor Roll, and as a Centering Pregnancy Approved site
- Train medical students from the University of California at San Francisco and Emergency Room residents on labor and delivery.
- Collaborate with a team of Certified Nurse Midwives and Nurse Practitioners to support inpatient services.
- Participate in the review of quality of patient care rendered in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology within the AHS quality assurance and performance improvement plans
- This role may also participate in GYN service attending weeks as well as home-based night and emergency backup on par with the physicians in our department.
- Although the templated schedule for this role will adhere closely to the hours corresponding to the FTE allotted, as a member within this department, this individual may be called upon to contribute to service coverage needs to ensure patient safety, in line with all physicians in the department.
