Consultant Interventional Neuro Radiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a substantive consultant radiologist post to join our team at Barking Havering, and Redbridge University Hospital Trust. The successful candidate will be part of the radiology team at Queens and King George Hospitals. Each consultant will have an office space, secretarial provision, access to a PACS reporting station, a PC and a reporting workstation for remote access to images for on‑call purposes and work from home.
The advertised post is primarily to support interventional neuroradiology. The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in interventional neuroradiology. Experience in relevant subspecialty is preferred.
This is a new substantive post arising primarily to cover our interventional neuroradiology services as part of transformation and expansion. The Radiology Directorate is currently reconfiguring its consultant team to provide as much specialist, high quality, timely and efficient service as possible.
Main duties of the jobConsultant Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiologist – the post is designed to share the responsibility for the provision of comprehensive interventional and diagnostic neuroradiology services including neurovascular clinics and MDTs.
The successful candidate is expected to support the Radiology department primarily in the following areas:
- Neuro interventional procedures
- Mechanical thrombectomy service (MT)
- Weekend MT and coiling service
- MDTs
- Clinics
- Cross‑sectional neuroradiology reporting
- Work across KGH and QH sites
- Advanced imaging modalities such as perfusion, spectroscopy, functional MRI
Contribution to the vetting of cross‑sectional scans, interventional procedures and solving queries from clinical and radiology teams is mandatory.
Job responsibilitiesGeneral responsibilities:
- Adhere to appropriate clinical and quality standards, liaise effectively with colleagues, GPs, community services and all healthcare agencies.
- Participate in the development, organisation and management of radiology services.
- Attend and participate in departmental governance meetings, including investigations of incidents and audits.
- Attend operational and clinical meetings essential to the running of the department and/or service.
- Maintain required level of evidence‑based practice within area of special interest.
- Comply with trust and departmental policies regarding job planning, appraisal and leave.
- Depute for an absent consultant or associate specialist colleague as required.
- Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care programmed activities.
- Ensure mandatory training is up to date per trust policy.
Teaching responsibilities:
Support trainees in neuroradiology rotation, supervised reporting, teaching and supervision. Teaching experience desirable.
Management responsibilities:
Share responsibility for investigating incidents and quality assurance projects. Management experience desirable but not required.

Person Specification Qualifications- Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice specialist training/fellowship or relevant experience
- Interventional and Interventional Neuro Radiology
- MRCP/MRCS
- Experience of Interventional Neuroradiology post fellowship at consultant level
- Experience at consultant level and at a 24/7 thrombectomy centre in the London region
