Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide senior clinical leadership across our CYP ADHD and Autism diagnostic pathways
. You will act as the senior clinical decision-maker for complex cases, oversee MDT diagnostic processes, and ensure high quality, evidence‑based assessment for children and young people aged 6 to 18.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly developing neurodevelopmental service delivering clinician‑led, high governance, data‑driven care within a supportive and innovative primary care organisation.
Main duties of the job- Leading and quality assuaring ADHD & Autism assessment and diagnostic pathways
- Senior oversight of differential diagnosis and complex case formulation
- Supervising MDT clinicians (GPs, psychologists, nurses, Band 7 assessors)
- Providing senior review for high risk or atypical presentations
- Contributing to governance, clinical audit, quality dashboards and service improvement
- Ensuring NICE compliant, neurodiversity affirming standards of care

- GMC registration with licence to practise
- CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry OR Paediatrics
- Significant experience in ADHD & Autism assessment in CYP (minimum 3 years)
- Skilled in neurodevelopmental formulations
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of NICE NG87 (ADHD), CG128 & CG170 (Autism)
- Confidence managing complex comorbid presentations
- Excellent communication skills with children, young people & families
- Safeguarding level 3 (children)
- ADOS/ADI‑R training
- Experience in private/independent sector pathways
- Experience with QB Test interpretation
- Experience working within primary care aligned ND services
- Teaching and service development experience
