Job overviewWe are seeking a motivated Obstetrics and Gynaecology resident doctor to lead a project on postnatal debriefing and pre‑pregnancy care following spontaneous pre‑term birth. The successful candidate will register for an MD with the University of Liverpool, currently working at ST3 level or above, although more senior trainees are welcome. Doctors both in and outside of a training programme may apply.
The research component includes project funding and policy support from Tommy’s charity, with supplementary external supervision from Professor Anna David (UCL) and Professor Catherine Williamson (Imperial College). Health economists at the University of Liverpool also support the project.
Primary responsibilities- Develop a roadmap for national implementation of postnatal debriefs and pre‑pregnancy care for women who have experienced spontaneous pre‑term birth (sPTB).
- Co‑develop care models in partnership with women, partners and families, and consult healthcare providers on challenges and facilitators.
- Lead the delivery of post‑preterm birth prevention clinic sessions at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, and participate in all related sessions.
- Access and, where required, undertake training in insertion of cervical cerclage and fetal growth assessment through the Rainbow Clinic.
- Join the full on‑call rota (ST3‑7), with 1‑in‑14 on‑call, weekly weekday and weekend nights, twilight shifts, and daytime weekend duties.
- Coordinate review meetings and MDTs, and contribute to quality improvement and research publications.

- MRCOG Part 2
- Willingness to register for an MD with the University of Liverpool
- MRCOG Part 3
- Other degree (e.g., BSc)
- 4 years post‑registration
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology – completion or nearing completion of ST3 competencies
- Experience leading local, regional or national quality improvement projects
- NTN in obstetrics and gynaecology, evidence of research interest/QI projects, published papers
- Experience in clinical management, e.g., coordinating review meetings/MDTs
