Overview
This is a substantive full‑time Consultant Head and Neck Radiologist position at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The post holder will work at one or two of three main hospitals (St Marys, Charing Cross and Hammersmith) and/or one of two Community Diagnostic Centres in Wembley and Willesden. The role has been created to support the trust’s expansion of services.
Responsibilities- Perform all aspects of head and neck imaging, including cross‑sectional imaging and plain film reporting.
- Conduct head and neck ultrasound with fine needle aspiration and biopsy procedures.
- Take part in and support multiple benign and cancer multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Provide 7‑day consultant‑led reporting service, including weekday evening coverage (5‑8 pm) on a rotational basis.
- Attend weekend report checking service (2–3 days per year, 9 hrs each) with remuneration via TOIL or sessional pay.
- Participate in management, training and research activities of the department during the allocated SPA periods.
- Assist in the training of sonographers in specialist head and neck ultrasound.
- Support flexible working arrangements, including working from home where appropriate.
- Completed formal training in Head and Neck Radiology.
- Experience in head and neck ultrasound, including fine needle aspiration and biopsy.
- Proficiency in all aspects of cross‑sectional imaging and plain film reporting.
- Hold a CCT in Radiology or be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within six months of being granted a CCT.
- Interest in salivary intervention and/or trauma imaging is encouraged.
- Strong interest in training and research, in line with the Academic Health Sciences Centre’s strategic aims.
Flexible working arrangements are supported, including part‑time and job share. The postholder may work from home for one community diagnostic centre and one SPA, subject to job‑planning discussions. Job plans are reviewed annually in line with Trust guidance.
