Job overviewImperial College Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint a Research Registrar in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Applications are sought from a higher surgical trainee in Otolaryngology in the UK to perform a period of research at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust. This post incorporates some operating and clinics and take part in on-call rota. The applicant should apply to register for a PhD at Imperial College London.
It is the intention that the research will lead to the award of a PhD.
Title:
Integration and validation of artificial Intelligence into upper aerodigestive endoscopy.
This research will critically appraise the potential of utilising AI in endoscopic machine learning, training as well as diagnostics and assessment of upper aerodigestive tract tumours.
The applicant will work alongside computer science postgraduate students within the same project area. In addition, will take part in recruitment for ongoing trials. Engagement in the department teaching programme is essential as well as maintaining all aspects of good medical practice, such as audit and service improvements.
During their time in the ENT department, the post holder can expect to maintain their clinical and surgical skills. The post holder will be part of the ENT clinical team whose focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of ENT conditions focusing on head and neck cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The post holder will participate in the ENT SpR on-call rota 1:7 and “Hot” rigistrar of the week rota.
Person specification Audit- Understanding of principles of clinical audit
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/postgraduates and junior medical staff
- Able to take responsibility, show leadership, make decisions, exert appropriate authority
- Have proven skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
- Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at SCF level at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
- Published articles in peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrable knowledge, training and expertise in general adult and paediatric ENT surgery to participate on the StR on-call rota
- IT Skills and computer literacy
- Committed to a career in ENT
- Able to speak and write English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
- On GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice
- Appropriate Royal College Membership
- DOHNS/MRCS or equivalent
- Primary medical degree
- MSc / MS / M-Phil
