Consultant Psychiatrist – General Adult Community Psychiatry, Barrow-in-Furness (10PA)

This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40k (subject to tax and NI) payable on commencement of employment.

Eligibility criteria do apply. Please note that staff currently employed by the Trust would not be eligible to apply for this recruitment and retention premia.

We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join Furness Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). The post is full time (10PA) and based at Duddon House, Barrow in Furness.

The postholder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be payable.

Main duties of the job

The service covers the Furness area which includes Millom, Ulverston and the Barrow in Furness areas.

The post holder will work as Consultant Psychiatrist in the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). He/she will work with a multidisciplinary team including nursing, social work, occupational therapy and psychology staff. The team works with a limited number of GP practices and there is an expectation that there will be close liaison with those practices. The Consultant will be available to give advice to primary care and the multidisciplinary team.

The consultant will have a small caseload of patients that he/she will see in outpatients but the majority of patients will have a separate key worker.

Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.

It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.

  • Study leave budget of £3000 over 3 years or up to £5000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants
