Atrom Mindcare RTC is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join our expanding Adult Autism (ASD) Service. The post-holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic assessments, clinical formulation, and diagnostic decision-making for adults presenting with (ASD), including those with complex mental health presentations and neurodevelopmental comorbidities.
This is a flexible, hybrid role suited to a motivated clinician with a strong interest in neurodevelopmental disorders and delivering evidence-based, person-centred autism assessments within an innovative multidisciplinary service.
Key Responsibilities-Clinical Duties
- Conduct comprehensive specialist assessments for Adult (ASD), including clinical interviews, diagnostic formulation, risk assessment and diagnostic decision-making.
- Review developmental history assessments, ADOS-2 assessments and collateral information as part of the multidisciplinary diagnostic process.
- Provide expert clinical opinion on complex neurodevelopmental presentations and differential diagnoses.
- Complete high-quality diagnostic reports, outcome letters and management recommendations.
- Offer appropriate post-diagnostic advice, signposting and recommendations for ongoing support.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation using electronic health records.
- Ensure safe, ethical and evidence-based practice in accordance with GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and contribute to diagnostic consensus meetings.
- Engage in regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintain GMC revalidation requirements.
- Support service development, quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance patient care pathways.
- Attend clinical supervision, peer meetings and operational meetings (remote where appropriate).
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Demonstrable experience assessing and diagnosing ASD in adults (having CAMHS experience also is preferred).
- Experience working within the NHS or private sector.
- Excellent knowledge of DSM-5/ICD-11 diagnostic criteria for ASD.
- Strong communication, diagnostic formulation and risk assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work flexibly within a hybrid service model.
- Experience working within specialist Adult Autism or Neurodevelopmental Services.
- ADOS-2/ADI-R trained and experienced.
- Experience assessing co-occurring conditions including ADHD, anxiety, depression and personality disorders.
- Familiarity with digital health platforms and remote assessment technologies.
- Experience contributing to multidisciplinary autism diagnostic pathways.
- CCT (or within six months of obtaining CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry.
- Flexible contracting options, including part-time, sessional or associate arrangements.
