Drug Safety Physician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Drug Safety Physician to join their expanding global safety team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to contribute to drug safety surveillance and risk management from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for the medical assessment of adverse event reports, contributing to safety strategy, and ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements.

This role requires strong medical expertise, a thorough understanding of pharmacovigilance principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a remote, international setting.

• Provide medical assessment and interpretation of adverse event data from clinical trials and post-marketing surveillance.
• Contribute to the development and execution of company-wide drug safety strategies.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of safety information to global regulatory authorities.
• Lead safety assessment for assigned products, including signal detection and risk management planning.
• Review and approve safety-related documents, such as Investigator Brochures and Risk Management Plans.
• Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and R&D teams to manage product safety profiles effectively.

• Medical Doctor (MD) with a valid medical license.
• Board certification or fellowship in a relevant specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in drug safety or pharmacovigilance within the pharmaceutical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of global regulatory requirements for pharmacovigilance (e.g., FDA, EMA, ICH).
• Strong medical and scientific judgment, with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team environment.
