Shriners Children's Greenville is seeking a full-time Pediatric Physiatrist to join a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on delivering comprehensive care to children with complex neuromuscular conditions. This physician will diagnose, treat, and manage infants, children, and adolescents with conditions including cerebral palsy, arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, spina bifida, and related disorders, serving a large and underserved regional population. This role addresses a critical access gap in South Carolina, where only two pediatric physiatrists currently practice and none are located within 100 miles of Greenville.
This is a primarily outpatient, clinic-based position with no inpatient responsibilities, no call, and no weekend coverage, offering exceptional work-life balance. The Physiatrist will work closely with one of the largest pediatric orthopedic groups in the Carolinas and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that includes nursing staff, a nurse practitioner, physical and occupational therapists, prosthetics and orthotics specialists, and a Motion Analysis Center (gait lab) team.
- Provide expert diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and developmental disorders in pediatric patients
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation care plans
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary
- Education patients and families on treatment plans, prognosis, and home-based strategies
- Participate in inpatient and/or outpatient services including consults and follow-ups
- Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Engage in clinical teaching and research activities (as applicable)
- Maintain accountability for meeting established productivity benchmarks (e.g. wRVUS), quality metrics, and institutional performance standards
- Ensure time is allocated in accordance with assigned clinical, surgical, administrative, and academic expectations.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
- Board certification or eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
- Must possess eligibility for active and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice
- Must possess eligibility for active DEA
- Must possess Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Credentialing and privileging by the medical staff in accordance with hospital bylaws
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care and collaborative practice
- Experience in managing cerebral palsy, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury and other complex pediatric conditions
- Strong clinical acumen and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage both inpatient and outpatient caseloads, as needed
- Interest in teaching or clinical research
- Successful completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine highly preferred
- Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine subspecialty certification highly preferred
- Minimum 1-3 years of post-fellowship or equivalent clinical experience in pediatric physical and rehabilitation medicine preferred; recent fellowship graduates will be considered based on training and clinical exposure
