Psychiatry - Assistant Professor Tenure track
Mission Statement

Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally.

Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.

Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan is seeking recruitment for a tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor
to work in Ambulatory Psychiatry to focus on treatment prediction of mood disorders in adults. The U-M Department of Psychiatry involves more than 170 faculty, robust research programs, busy general and subspecialized clinical programs, and clinical and research training opportunities.

While it is expected that this instructional track faculty member will spend a majority of their time in funded research, they will also spend time in clinical care, educational activities and administrative responsibilities. Applicants should have experience in conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based treatment. Physician candidates will also provide some hospital-based services, entailing participation in various on-call activities, which may include scheduled weekend rounding on the inpatient unit (averages 2 times per year).

Educational and Scientific Activities

The preferred candidate, in addition to a central research role, will also be expected to be involved in the training activities, including mentoring of fellows in our postdoctoral research training program.

The precise distribution of effort between research and educational activities is open to negotiation and impacted by research funding.

Required Qualifications
*

Applicants must hold an M.D. degree with PhD training in relevant research areas, and be certified by, or eligible and actively working toward certification with, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. They must also hold, or be eligible to obtain, Michigan medical and pharmacy licenses. Evidence of strong clinical competence, as well as experience in both clinical and didactic teaching, is expected.

Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level at the University of Michigan. Success in securing research funding is a plus and will be a central component of this position.
