Part-Time Medical Director - Family Practice Physician

We are seeking a Part-Time Medical Director to provide expert clinical guidance for a health plan serving approximately 180,000 members, primarily public employees and their families.

In this role, you will

• review medical and disability claims for medical necessity and preauthorization requests,
• advise on quality and reasonableness of treatments,
• serve as a clinical resource for staff,
• participate in quality initiatives, case management, and utilization review,
• review prescription drug requests and appeals,

and

• contribute to committees and organizational objectives as needed.

Key Qualifications Include

• unrestricted Michigan MD or DO license,
• 10+ years of medical practice experience,
• board certification,

and

• strong communication, analytical, and independent working skills.

The position involves approximately 20 hours weekly, with flexible hours and partly remote work, operating as an independent contractor. The role emphasizes providing high-quality healthcare oversight, supporting organizational policies, and maintaining necessary licenses and certifications.
